This class focuses on using the basics of Uta Hagen's method of acting. Actor's begin to learn her technique and how to start applying it to their own craft.

With a strong emphasis on developing the actor as both artist and professional, it offers a superior level of training for students who are already working in the industry or are looking to further their training.
This class further explores more of the Uta Hagen technique and a more in depth look into her ideas of substitution, transference, specificity, authenticity, and preparation.

Improvisation: Grades 6-8

If you don't know how to Improvise, you're missing out on a major component of working in front of the camera. You must learn to live, moment to moment, with lines or without them. More directors are incorporating improvisation into their director session auditions and their work on set- and the only way to learn how to practice. Improvisation also builds confidence for actors to make bold decisions in their audition tapes as well as their commercial auditions!

​This class is for advanced students who are represented by an agent (either locally or in LA/NY) and are actively auditioning for film and TV.  This class furthers the actor’s work dynamically on camera and in any audition situation. Actors will learn to make choices based on the script and/or sides, receive tools for creating behavior that tell a clear story, and explore emotional range, size, and scale in front of the camera. Cold reading skills are also honed as when any actor must audition with material given on the spot. The actor is guided in making quick and decisive choices.
This class further explores more of the Uta Hagen technique and a more in depth look into her ideas of substitution, transference, specificity, authenticity, and preparation.

New Zoom Class!

INTRO TO SCREENWRITING - Adult

Intro To Screenwriting

Thursdays • 7:00pm - 8:00pm CDT
$250 / 12 weeks (September 4 - November 20)

How is this important to me as an actor?

Because it deepens their understanding of character, structure, and dialogue, empowering them to create and interpret roles with greater authenticity and intention.

 

In this 12 week course, students will be introduced to the basics of screenwriting. They will learn:

  • proper formatting

  • how to write strong dialogue

  • character development

  • beats needed for a 3 act structure.

 

Each week students will be assigned homework that will progressively amount to a finished original short film. (7-12 pages) They will also be assigned to watch a weekly film at home.

Dallas Local Agent Showcase

Winter Showcase:  Must be a current registered student enrolled in a scene study class by October 1, 2025 to be eligible for the December 6, 2025 at 12:00pm CST Local Agency Showcase held at TAH.

 

Spring Showcase:  Must be a current registered student enrolled in a scene study class by March 1, 2026 to be eligible for the May (day TBD) 2026 Local Agency Showcase.

 

 

LA/NY Agent & Manager Showcase

Prerequisites: To be eligible, actors must be consistently enrolled in a scene study class for a minimum of six consecutive months. Final approval is required and will be granted at Lauren’s discretion.

​

Please note: Enrollment must be active and ongoing for the full six-month period. This is based on the date you start classes, not the date you enrolled for the class. i.e. "I enrolled for a class that starts August 20 but I signed up for the class July 15."  To be clear, the LA Showcase will only be available for those students who began their classes this Summer 2025 or returning students who began their classes at minimum in Spring 2025.
